The Harris Centre is Memorial University’s hub for public policy and regional development. The Centre can help connect economic development professionals with researchers at Memorial University and help broker research opportunities – acting as a bridge between communities and the university. Throughout the year, the Harris Centre holds public events and forums on public policy as well as engagement sessions in various parts of the province that bring together community leaders and university researchers. The mission of the Economic Developers Association of Canada is to enhance the professional competence of economic developers and ensure placement of highly professional and qualified practitioners in the field of economic development. EDAC offers an economic development certificate program and training in conjunction with the University of Waterloo as well as a professional accreditation program.
EDAC and University of Waterloo have partnered to offer a suite of professional development programming to get economic development professionals up to speed and at the leading edge. Its courses and seminars are accredited by EDAC and will help you get your Certified Economic Developer designation (EcD). The University of Waterloo also offers a Master of Economic Development & Innovation that can be taken either full-time or part-time.
